Navigators, writers, scientists, musicians and artists of all kinds have made this region famous: Dante, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and Simone Martini to name just a few. But also Galileo Galilei, Antonio Meucci, Giacomo Puccini, Carlo Collodi, and Giovanni da Verrazzano. There is an endless list of Tuscan talent to discover through their works scattered almost everywhere in Tuscany. Tuscany is not only famous for art but also for architecture. You need only walk the streets of the most famous cities such as Pisa, Florence, Lucca, San Gimignano, Siena and the medieval villages to relive the emotions of the past. Lucca and Tuscany are also the perfect places to experience unique food and wine. Their typical products and wines are famous all over the world, not only for their quality but also for their authenticity.
The Versilia Coast
From Viareggio to the Gulf of Poets, the northern part of Tuscany is bordered by the long sandy beaches of Versilia to the border with Liguria, where the Cinque Terre, with its rocky profile draws hikers and visitors from around the world. The sea around the coast of Tuscany has all the advantages of the Mediterranean; it is calm and is ideal for windsurfing, waterskiing and other water sports. The gentle breeze that comes from the sea entices sailing enthusiasts to explore coves and bays to the north of the port of Marina di Carrara. Villa Pasquinelli is only a 40 minute drive from the nearest beach!
Nightlife
Versilia By Night is extremely popular and over the years has raised the awareness of the Versilia area. It draws large crowds, young and old, in summer, and on weekends and holidays throughout the year. Between Marina di Torre del Lago and Forte dei Marmi, all along the coast, there are many discos and nightclubs where shows and concerts feature current popular singers and artists to satisfy every taste. Many historic places such as 'La Capannina' and 'La Bussola', are exclusive environments where people come to see famous artists. Versilia is only 48 km from the villa, less than an hour's drive!
Hiking
The hills of Lucca offer residents and visitors an ideal place to explore, with hiking trails for all abilities to stimulate the body and the mind. From the villa, you can follow several marked trails that wind through the hills up to the mountains surrounding the Pizzorne. Maps of the hiking trails are available upon request.
Bicycle and scooter rental
If you like nature, you can rent bicycles and scooters for a few days or for the whole week and enjoy walks amongst the colors and scents of the surrounding countryside. You can also rent bikes in the historical center of Lucca and enjoy the unique experience of riding on the ancient city walls and through the streets of the city.
Golf and tennis
For lovers of sport, activities also include tennis and golf. The golf courses and tennis courts are an ideal place to spend a few hours of fun and physical activity. The nearest golf courses are the Versilia Golf Club (54 km) and the Montecatini Golf Club (40 km). Lucca
The city of Lucca is renowned for its magnificent and well conserved city walls, dating back to the sixteenth century. It is possible to walk along the entire circuit, and the walls represent one of the main symbols of the city. The historical centre is host to a wealth of examples from various historical periods, starting from the Roman amphitheatre (now Piazza dell'Anfiteatro). Also known as the “city of one hundred churches”, the city has numerous churches and places of worship of rare beauty, starting with the cathedral of San Martino, with its fascinating façade in the Romanesque style. Another testimony to the medieval period is the Guinigi tower, with its garden and trees at the top. Every year, Lucca is also host to numerous events and performances, including the popular Lucca Summer Festival, Lucca Comics and Games, and the Festival of Puccini, dedicated to the great composer.
